Chicken, a rescue cat with six toes on each paw, has found a permanent home with Paulina after a failed adoption, according to iHeartCats.

Paulina adopted Chicken after hearing his story. Chicken had been rescued from a hoarding situation and later returned after an adoption did not work out. Paulina describes him as an American Curl with orange creamsicle coloring.

The source says Chicken was shy when Paulina first met him. He settled into his new home faster than she expected. He explored the house, played with toys, and showed interest in the shower.

Chicken's extra toes are a result of polydactyly, a trait in which cats have additional digits. The source notes that most cats have five toes on each front paw and four on each back paw.

Paulina says Chicken is very vocal about mealtimes. He also cuddles on his own terms. When visitors tried to pet him, he backed away. Paulina says Chicken follows her when she returns home and sometimes jumps against her thigh to get attention.

Paulina told GeoBeats that she thought she was giving Chicken a home, but that he changed her life.
