Sora, a black Labrador Pitbull mix, has been at Valley Animal Center in Fresno, California, for almost four years. Her previous owner surrendered her, saying she needed more attention and training than they could provide.
Sora spent nearly 900 days in the shelter before someone adopted her. The adoption did not last. Less than 24 hours later, the new owner called the shelter and asked to return her.
According to the shelter, Sora had not been given enough time to decompress in her new home. The transition was rushed, and she was introduced to new family members too quickly. The new owner then decided to return her.
The shelter says Sora has developed anxious behaviors from her long stay. Certified dog trainer Mariah Prudhume believes that if Sora finds a loving home, her mental health would improve dramatically. The shelter describes her as affectionate and playful.
Sora would do best in a single-pet home with a family willing to commit time to training. She gets along well with humans and with children over five years old. The shelter is looking for a patient adopter. Details on adopting Sora are available from Valley Animal Center.
